Navya fame, Shaheer Sheikh feels blessed to play the iconic role of Lord Arjun on Star Plus’ magnum opus Mahabharat. But it was not a cake walk for him to step into the shoes of a completely different character, and it rather was an intricate task to complete. He had spent sleepless nights before foraying in the role.

“I am very excited and I am enjoying every bit of it. Playing the character of Arjun is a challenging task and I like taking up challenges. The show Mahabharat has given me sleepless night, I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s a once in a life time opportunity for me and I don’t want to leave it at any cost,” said Shaheer, who was also seen in a Teri Meri Love Stories on Star Plus. Read more…

Chhavi Pandey to feature in Cinevistaas’ Daag!

Star Plus is set with a programming change this year and there are several shows lined up for telecast in 2013. In the year 2012, we had come across the news about Cinevistaas Production, makers of Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai on Star, coming up with a show loosely based on Bollywood flick Khoon Bhari Maang featuring Rekha.

The show tentatively titled as Daag is in its primary stage and is currently busy with the casting. First it was reported that Tarzan: The Wonder Car fame Vatsal Seth would be seen playing the male lead in the show. After moving to Mumbai in 2009, Mudit Nayar was doing commercials and then got a few roles on the TV shows like Palampur Express, and an episode in Teri Meri Love Stories on Star Plus. He is currently seen in Sony TV’s horror based show Anamika.

Mudit said, “I am super elated to be a part of Anamika, but I have a small grouse against the people who feel I am a newcomer. On the contrary, I have done a couple of shows and quite many advertisements too. May be I wasn’t known earlier. It’s only after people have seen me as a lead in Anamika that I have been recognized. Actor Avinash Sachdev rose to fame playing Dev in Zee TV‘s Chhoti Bahu. Not just this, he even got to meet his Rubina Dilaik through the show, who played Radhika in the daily.

Both are very much in love and happily together. Ever since Choti Bahu has gone off air, we have not seen much of the two on TV screen. Television shows should leave the intimate scenes to movies, says Iqbal Khan!

Television’s dashing handsome actor Iqbal Khan is recognized for his toned physique and smile. He has earned respect for portraying characters in TV shows like Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli and Teri Meri Love Stories (TMLS).

But he feels uncomfortable about show TRPs as this is the thing which does not let allow show producers to try new genres. “Producers/show-makers don’t experiment much on TV and tend to follow successful formulae. Telly actress Sargun Mehta, who claimed to fame with Colors’ show Phulwa, is a star sharing a healthy relationship with media. She believes that media may be a threat to the personal lives of celebrities but not for her or television stars.

“I don’t know about film stars, but television actors don’t have privacy issues with the media. There are certain aspects of your life that you won’t want people to know and sometimes they do come out. But I guess that’s okay. An anthology series of romantic telefilms Teri Meri Love Stories, recently due to bad response on TRPs has reduced the duration of air-time. But now it seems like nothing is in favor of makers as they are facing heavy defeat by making telefilms for Star Plus.

Producer Siddharth Malhotra, who is ready with its two of short films which still have to telecast on coming week, says, “I am not going make more short films in this series now. The channel does not really promote the slot as much as they should and plus stiff competition in the weekend slot has meant that the ratings are not much to talk about. In such an environment I don’t feel like investing more time, effort and bandwidth.” Read more…
