Math professor’s discovery won prestigious $1M Abel Prize

The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters announced that 71-year old Hungarian mathematician Endre Szemeredi has won the 2012 Abel Prize the unofficial Nobel Prize in mathematics.

“It is not my own personal achievement,” he said, “but recognition for this field of mathematics and Hungarian mathematicians,” that gave him the most pleasure. Read more…
